The warm and calm summer of Gambia is witnessing how a group of volunteers from Valencia has committed to enhancing the installations and infrastructures of some school buildings in the capital region.
Thus the Gambia School Project has been reactivated and will continue with the previous work made during the last years. This season the buildings targeted are the ones that hold the Saint Theresa and Saint Anthony colleges, placed in Serekunda and Kololi, respectively.
The volunteers will be working there for the next weeks and will also involve locals to teach and train them to be capable of dealing with possible issues in the future or similar projects.
Among the outcomes taken from this activity, we can highlight how the locals have felt supported and accompanied by the volunteers. They have contributed to creating a great atmosphere, trying the customs and traditions of the country.
Furthermore, besides all the handwork and construction actions, another group of volunteers traveled to the region to provide medical assistance and health aid. They also will export materials and teach practices to the locals in order to improve and enhance their capacities and means to take care of the people in need.
